We’re an Anglican Parish Church based a mile north of Sheffield city centre, part of the vibrant communities of Pitsmoor and Burngreave. The area is hugely diverse and this is reflected in the life of Christ Church – we’re a church of all ages and multiple cultures. We have a wide range of ways that we express our Christian faith – but we work together to learn, grow and serve.
Our vicar,
Rev Philip Ireson, came here in May 2011, after ten years as Chaplain in Doncaster Prison. We have a Pioneer Minister in training, and two Church Army workers, and are recruiting for a part-time youth worker.
We offer many services and activities, space to explore your own spiritual life and opportunities to help others. Do
contact us with any questions. For more information about things we’re doing, and how to be part of that, see our
doing pages. To find us, see our
contact pages.
Our vision is all about being community – Christian community for all nations.
Our values are that we are:- relational | diverse | invitational | open | pioneering – and they are linked to our four key objectives:-
1. to cultivate creative ways of expressing community focused on Jesus
2. to cultivate cross-cultural relationships
3. to cultivate cross-generational relationships
4. to develop our staff team, buildings and leadership capacity
We are a committed part of the Diocese of Sheffield. Our Diocesan mission statement is:
The Diocese of Sheffield is called to grow a sustainable network of Christ-like, lively and diverse Christian communities in every place which are effective in making disciples and in seeking to transform our society and God’s world.

Yes, thanks Chris, I think you’re right – this all needs revisiting, after an initial rush to get it ready for the youth worker ad earlier in the year, I’ve sort of left it… Will try to get onto it shortly – Ingrid’s pointed out some gaps (like email addresses, which are now live) and there’s Ant to add in – anything else you’ve spotted would be useful, and I’ll get as much done in one go as possible.
