Christ Church Pitsmoor

Centenary Walk

Just a reminder that the two congregations come together on Sunday at 10.30a.m. for a Pentecost Communion with Archdeacon Malcolm Chamberlain.

Philip Ireson, Chris Barber and Chris Limb set out on a Centenary Walk across the Diocese from Adlingfleet in the far north east and then walk 60 miles over four days along rivers and canals to Sheffield Cathedral. Watch out on our Facebook site, Christ Church Pitsmoor,  for updates

A great Easter

Church was full on Easter Sunday when the two congregations united to proclaim that Christ is Risen! Thank you everyone who made the church inside and outside look so good. The flowers were inspirational.  If you are interested in what we got up to at the annual Church meeting then there are some  of the reports there.

New Year!

Well,  I’ve finally managed to persuade WordPress to change my password so I’m back on the church web-site. Happy New Year to all our readers!

You might like to catch up with our download page which has a PDF of our latest teaching series : Shaping up and the latest news sheet with all the service times etc in it. I went to a great event last week involving the Karen Burmese members of the congregation as they celebrated their New Year.

Christ Church Pitsmoor Remembrance Day

ImageChrist Church Pitmoor has a rich history. Many people still see it as their ‘family’ church with memories of sad and happy events. Christ Church also has memorials to the many local men who gave their lives during the World Wars. We also remember the sad deaths of 90 civilians during the Blitz. The church itself narrowly missed being destroyed. On Remembrance Day on November 10th we will have the traditional Poppy day ceremony and silence beginning at 10.30a.m. In the evening you are invited to come back to church at 6.30 to share in a ‘remember me’ service when the names of loved ones can be read out and candles lit. We hope you can join us.

We’re healthy at Christ Church!

Every month we get in an ageing minibus and trundle out into the Peak District for a gentle walk around some stunning countryside. It is a great chance to chat, get to know each other and enjoy some fresh air. We’ll let you know when the next walk is, why not come and join us.
